In 2002, Tamara compleated restoration of an 1830's Greek Revival home which is on the National Register of Historic Places.  Extensive and dramatic restoration by a man who grew up next door to the house saved this structure, now the area's largest portrait studio. High Gate Gallery has a huge modern camera room, an elegant parlor, hallways filled with portrait examples, and the charm of comfortable surroundings that puts anyone at ease.  We welcome visitors to tour the house during business hours.

I was always good at art as a child.  I never knew what direction my creativity would take or how I would make a living.  This was what I excelled in and how I expressed myself.

During my freshman year of college.  I took a Photo I class.  I was hooked.  To be in the darkroom and watch an image come up on a blank piece of photo paper was like magic to me.  From that time on I became obsessed with photography.

Photography still excites me today more than any other creative media.  To me, the challenge in my work is to capture an image  that reflects a person's soul.  I love photographing children for this reason.  To make an image that will be cherished long after a person is gone is a wonderful legacy to leave.

Tamara's dog, Pixel, is a Second Chance dog who started greeting customers at High Gate Gallery in December 2005.
